Below I have added some photoies of a Exploding box I made for an order yesterday it is for a birthday although I have made some Valentimes ones aswell.
This is what the box looks like when closed. It is 9cm x 9cm sq but has a 8cm x 8cm layer aswell as a 7cm x 7cm layer inside. 
I used some decoupage kits I had from a all occasions kit I bought back in the summer from my local Paper Mill shop (it is all Daisy and Danelion products) to layer up the biggest squares.
I used my cricut cartridge Storybook to create this butterfly.
This shows some of the chipboard flowers I have used on the 8cm x 8cm layers,
